Oral supplements are the first defense against malnutrition and decreased albumin levels. Ensuring adequate caloric and protein intake increases a patient's ability to fight off infection, decreases hospitalization and speeds healing time. Carmichael's has experienced dietitians and pharmacists on-staff working closely with the primary caregiver to provide the patient with proper nutritional intake.

We offer one of the largest selections of oral products including milk-based and clear-liquid/juice-based beverages, puddings, diabetic bars, and high-protein cookies. Many products come in several flavors. We carry a wide variety of nutritional supplements to ensure better compliance and tolerance and reduce the chance of taste fatigue. Prescribing Information:

Carmichael's can bill Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance companies with a physician referral. Individuals can purchase nutritional supplements by calling 1-800-570-7263. Products will be shipped directly to your home within 1-3 days from our in-house UPS station.

Medicaid Oral Supplement Referral Process:

  • Patient must have current Medicaid coverage.

  • Sufficient documentation must be presented to support the diagnosis and need for oral supplements. Primary diagnoses include:

    End Stage Renal Disease
    HIV/AIDS
    Cancer
    Dysphagia
    COPD
    Organic Brain Syndrome
    Hepatitis C.

  • Patient must receive 750 calories per day from supplements with it constituting at least 70% of the daily caloric intake.
Fax completed oral supplements form with physician's signature to Carmichael's 337-783-8996. Carmichael's will notify patient/facility of Medicaid approval and shipping/delivery date. Carmichael's will contact patient or facility prior to delivery each month.
